Celebrating, Learning, and Sharing at e-Health2023
The annual e-Health Conference and Tradeshow is back in-person for the first time since 2019! It will be a great opportunity for everyone in the Canadian digital health community to get together to celebrate our collective achievements, hear from national and international digital health leaders and other engaging speakers, share knowledge about current programs, research, innovations and lessons learned, discuss challenges and opportunities, and network with new and long-time colleagues.
That’s why Infoway is proud to once again co-host e-Health with our partners, Digital Health Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information. We always aim to provide you with a great experience, whether you are a new attendee or you’ve been coming back year after year. Returnees are a testament to the quality of this conference and tradeshow, so we are always glad to incorporate your feedback to ensure that the conference brings you the topics and speakers you’re interested in, and the networking and learning opportunities that could benefit your professional development.
Health system interoperability is a challenge that’s top-of-mind in our digital health community, so it will come as no surprise that it will be a prominent topic of discussion during conference sessions and while we are mingling on the tradeshow floor.
We need to continue to work together to improve the ability of health IT systems to speak the same language so patient health information can flow seamlessly among them. This will result in greater efficiencies for our health system and for clinicians, and better health care and better outcomes for patients.
Recent surveys of Canadians and primary care physicians show that we are continuing to make progress and Canada has improved its standing compared with international peers, but we still have a lot of work to do. In particular, there are opportunities for growth in three areas of health information exchange—patient clinical summaries, lab and diagnostic test results, and patients’ medication lists. Infoway recently held a Projectathon where participants successfully tested capabilities to exchange a standardized patient summary, a key element in our interoperability journey.
Infoway looks forward to continuing to advance interoperability in Canada by collaborating with all health system stakeholders, including the federal, provincial and territorial governments, clinicians, patients, and professionals like you. I’m looking forward to seeing you at e-Health 2023 in Toronto from May 28-30 to continue the conversation!
